CURTAINS & BLINDS
Our specialty is designing and making attractive window treatments. Nowadays curtains are far more simply a means of shutting the dark out and keeping warm. They have become an integral part of the room, indeed often a focal point, demonstrating the style of the room both to those inside and to the world outside. There are many styles and indeed variations within each style in which windows can be dressed. I have an English book of window treatments and a similar American book, which I can run through with you and utilise or adapt the styles to suit the style and size of your room. Please feel welcome to cut pictures from magazines to show me of styles that have caught your eye. However, not all styles will suit all windows, and sometimes appearances can be deceptive! We therefore feel we can help you plan this important area of your house and will look forward to showing you the possibilities that will be right for the look you intend to achieve.
Blinds are an important part of our business too; they have never been as popular.
There are benefits and drawbacks to each type of blind, so it’s often worth getting professional advice as to which will be most suitable – for example, wooden blinds, being heavy, are harder to pull up than metal Venetians, and, importantly, don’t pull up as far, blocking out light.
Whilst there are plenty of ready made blinds available, they are also a fiddle to alter attractively, and the extra cost of bespoke blinds is often money well spent.

I’m including Roman blinds in this section, although they are made from curtain fabric; again, roman blinds have certain characteristics that are worth bearing in mind before purchase; size being the main consideration.
There is, again, a wide range of colours available with all these blinds, so a home choice option is worthwhile, plus we look for ‘hazards’, such as handles and inward opening windows, and recommend accordingly.
Always cost-effective, blinds can be finished attractively, so your home does not look like an office.
